The 2016 Mojave shows a bit more power than the 2014 and 2015 vintages. The freshness and concentration of the 2016 vintage, combined with stem inclusion and a touch more new oak yielded a wine with more substance and structure. On the nose, this wine shows confectionary notes of black cherry and vanilla, with hints of dried sage and toasty barrel spice. The palate is juicy and precise at entry, with black plum and bing cherry flavors showing up front. A vibrant core of acidity balances the fine-grained tannin profile, and highlights the expressive, elegant finish.
